Destination Cuba!

In 2013 faux cousin Liv and I traveled to Cuba on a 12-day road trip adventure with Insight Cuba, which took us from Havana to Santiago de Cuba and points in-between!

The idea for this trip came from Liv . . . "Let's go see Cuba while Fidel and Raul are still in power, and before it changes." Interesting. To be honest, Cuba had not been on my top 10 places to visit, but the more Liv spoke about it and the more I read about the country, the more intrugued I became. Sure I love Cuban-American food. And, yes, I loved hearing and seeing the Buena Vista Social Club perform. I also loved seeing old photographs of my in-laws sipping rum cocktails on the patio of the Nacional Hotel in the 50s. OK, and what's not to love about 50s cars and a whole country that seemingly was frozen in the decade of my birth.

After weeks of exploring many nonproft organizations and university tours to Cuba, we settled on one offered by Insight Cuba, a tour operator specializing solely in legal people-to-people travel to Cuba for Americans. Undiscovered Cuba is a 12 day adventure that will take us from Havana to Santa Clara, Camagüey, Bayamo Baracoa, Santiago de Cuba and Holguín.
